it's a rare treat to find a delicate antique with intact antique opals, and this ring is an exceptional example of how antique opals have unrivaled presence and portal-like shimmer
this sweet band was in storage for the last 20+ years, and before that it was sitting in a fine jewelry antique store in an area of the US that tends to be more interests in contemporary jewelry. its journey here means it doesn't have nearly as much wear as we'd expect to see on a band this delicate.

size 4 and cannot be sized much in either direction
the opals aren't uniform in size, and they average ~1.5mm
front of the band measures ~2.8mm north/south on the finger and rises up to ~2mm off the finger thanks to an especially tall opal
band tapers to a thin ~1.1mm x ~0.6mm at the base of the band
weighs a mere 0.9g
C O N D I T I O N
in good antique condition
-it seems entirely plausible that this ring has had more storage time than wear time in its 100+ year journey
-it was recently sourced with quite a bit of stubborn dirt in the recessed areas of the design details and between the stones. opals don't want to be soaked, so it had some gentle, careful cleaning with some dish soap and a gentle brush, but there may be some minor remaining dirt in crevices
-stones are all mismatched for size, height, and color, but they each offer a different visual story and manage to each look like different artist renditions of the globe
-there's one stone in the middle-ish that's so low in its setting that it's tricky to tell definitively if it has a minor loss
-was recently lightly hand polished to remove some very dark patina, but additional polishing decisions are left to the next caretaker
-base of the band is thin, but that appears to be its original design, not wear
this is a vintage item and will show surface scratches, dents, dings, dulling, wear, patina, and signs of having been worn and loved
