do you see the eye?
this ring is a bit of a mystery. what part of the world is it from? how old is it? what's the stone's story?
it was sourced being sold as an emerald, which didn't seem likely given the hue and the style of the ring — surely they were wrong and the stone was actually jade. alas, an electronic gem tester is agreeing that the stone is an emerald cabochon full of inclusions and hues, with a fairly matte surface. it cosplays like jade, but it isn't.
the hand engraving on the shoulders gives this an eye-like look and it hugs the finger thanks to its tapered style and closed under gallery of the setting

size 5, but may fit smaller because of the wide flat under gallery of the setting. this is not a great candidate for sizing, but could be sized carefully up or down one size by a skilled jeweler
setting is ~12.3mm north/south on the finger and rises ~6mm off the finger at the center of the stone
stone's bezel setting measures ~10.5mm x ~8.6mm
band tapers to ~2.8mm
weighs 4g including the cabochon, which may hint that the shoulders are semihollow
C O N D I T I O N
in good vintage condition
-bezel setting is slightly rosier than the rest of the ring
-stone is free from chips/cracks, but it does have surface wear and dulling and some minor color transfers from being stored with metals
-sizing seam at the base of the band with a dark spot from impurity in the solder/gold(?)
-shoulders and under gallery are likely semi-hollow since this ring isn't as heavy as it looks
-wear to the hand chasing/engraving
this is a vintage item and will show surface scratches, dents, dings, dulling, wear, patina, and signs of having been worn and loved
