what do we make of a 1970s tapered band with a custom inscription and almost no wear? some part of this ring's story didn't go as planned and so its wear patterns were frozen in time, and now it awaits its next journey looking like a five year old ring, but with an inscription that hints this ring is more than 50 years old.
it does seem fitting that this would-have-been tapered band features three stones for past, present, and future. its 'present' story had been fairly lackluster for the last many decades, culminating with this making it to market via a past-retirement age jewelry dealer ready to part with pieces that hadn't been worn in ages

slides down to just shy of size 9 on a sizing mandrel, but will fit smaller because of the width of the front of the ring, so likely fits more like a size ~8 — the right-fit or right-size of wide bands, even when they're tapered, is a subjective, sensory experience

single cut diamonds are each ~1.45mm (very difficult to measure precisely in their settings)
